Description

After Voldemort's death, Harry uses the Elder Wand to fix his own damaged wand, then decides to return it to Dumbledore's tomb, so that when he's a natural death, the Elder Wand's power will die with him. In the movie, Harry realizes that the Elder Wand is powerful to fall into the wrong hands so he snaps it in two and throws it. He also drops the Resurrection Stone in the Forbidden Forest but decides not to look for it in the expectation that no wizard or witch will ever be able to have all 3 Hallows. He keeps the Cloak he'd inherited, with the thought that he might pass it on to his kids.

After Voldemort's death, Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his own broken holly and phoenix-feather wand, which he says he was 'happier with', and says he'll return the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's grave, feeling that when he dies peacefully, its superior power will end. In the film, the wand in two snaps and throws the pieces wanting it to stay out of everybody's possession.

In the wake of the struggle, major changes begin to occur in the Wizarding world. Kingsley Shacklebolt is appointed interim Minister for Magic and the Death Eaters are fleeing for their lives. Harry takes the time to explain to Ron and Hermione as they walk into the Headmaster's office, everything that happened. Harry is now master of all three Deathly Hallows but chooses to leave the Resurrection Stone dropped in the woods where he dropped it, and plans to reunite the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's tomb in the expectation that when he dies its enormous power will be broken, although not before he uses it successfully fully repair his own holly and phoenix feather wand. The portrait of Dumbledore applauds his choice.
